As part of SES’s ongoing commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD), we ensure that our team of climbing ecologists and arborist surveyors remain fully up to date with their practical skills and safety knowledge. Recently, our team attended an NPTC climbing refresher course designed for qualified tree climbers, revisiting essential techniques and reinforcing best practice.

The refresher training was invaluable for both experienced climbers and newer team members, providing an opportunity to update skills and maintain confidence in the field. The course focused on several key areas:

  • Practical climbing techniques: Safely and efficiently accessing and moving around a tree, including branch walking and advanced positioning.
  • Aerial rescue procedures: Performing rescues from both tree canopies and poles, ensuring readiness for emergency situations.
  • Legislation and equipment compliance: Reviewing current health and safety legislation such as PUWER and LOLER, alongside equipment inspection requirements.
  • Work positioning principles: Reinforcing safe and effective systems for working at height.

This training underlines SES’s dedication to safety, professionalism, and excellence in ecological and arboriculture services. By investing in CPD, we ensure our team continues to deliver the highest standards of work while prioritising safety for both our staff and clients.
